Minutes after Sisi wraps up his scheduled speech at the UN General Assembly, the panelists will unveil what Sisi has omitted in said speech; brutality, violence, corruption and suffocation of all political space. The panel will include former US officials, former prisoners, prominent human rights advocates and family members of unjustly imprisoned Egyptians and Americans in Egypt. Panelists will shed light on the brutal conditions millions of Egyptians live in.
The family of former Egyptian auditor Hesham Genina will make their first public appearance to advocate for his release. Human Rights First and Cairo Institute will discuss their most recent joint report on Egypt. And Human Rights Watch will release a new case of severely tortured American citizen in Egypt’s prison whose family members will be present at the presser.
